After much procrastination, I submit for your entertainment the last images of the RAC prior to site preparation work in mid-May 2014. These images were taken at sunset on Sunday, May 18. On Tuesday, May 21, all the trees were gone.
After months of anticipation, the RAC Addition and Renovation project has begun. As the Project Shepherd, I have been involved with this project since 2009 in all phases leading to selection of the architectural firm, through all design phases and finally to the letting of bids and actual construction. In this blog, I will provide updates on all construction phases of the project on a weekly basis or more often as the need arises.
My first post is to confirm that construction has begun even before the end of the academic year with the installation of the access road connecting Ring Road and Park Drive to the north end of Varsity Drive behind Steele Hall. This road will be the route to RAC for the duration of the construction project. Actual site work at the building site will begin on May 19 following Commencement.
